Olerai House on Sirroco Sanctuary
Olerai House is one of Kenya’s best-kept secrets, a charming and relaxing getaway on the shores of Lake Naivasha, where you can immerse yourself in luxury and comfort in a beautiful farmhouse on a private wildlife sanctuary just two hours by road from Nairobi. Nature was left to take charge of this former cattle farm in 2001, and today, the farmhouse is shrouded in bougainvillea and the scent of wildflowers fills the warm air. Wild animals graze beneath soaring acacias, while down by the lake fish eagles swoop in for a kill or cry their haunting call as hippos harrumph close by. It is one of those secret little gems where people in the know go for a romantic weekend, for a break with the family from the stresses of the city, or to iron out hours of travel fatigue. Come to stay with us, pamper yourself and your loved ones, and feel yourself breathe deeper and slower as you reconnect with a simpler rhythm. We will do everything we can to make you feel at home.

Things to do
Lake Naivasha Boat Safari: Boat safaris are one of the most popular activities at Lake Naivasha. Jetting out onto the lake is the best way to get up close to the hippos and flamingos in the lake. If you look to the shores, you may see zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes. A typical both safari on Lake Naivasha takes around an hour, and the lake’s sheer size means that you will not be distracted by the rumble of other boat engines.
Crescent Island: You can combine your boat safari with a visit to Crescent Island - aptly named because of its crescent moon shape, is found on the east side of the lake near the town of Naivasha. Most of the lake's accommodation options are found in this area. Crescent Island home to a game sanctuary. Tours of the sanctuary last between 1.5-3 hours, and highlights include walking amongst the resident giraffes and zebras. Crescent Island is one of the most popular attractions in the Lake Naivasha area, and it was the primary filming location for the 1985 romantic drama 'Out of Africa'.
Hike Crater Lake: This small sanctuary is a great destination for hiking and it is home to giraffes, zebras, and over 150 bird species. The sanctuary has walking trails which follow the rim of the crater, and these routes offer breath-taking views.
Hell’s Gate National Park: Soaring cliffs, bursting gorges, dusty valleys, and perfectly sculptured volcanic columns, Hell's Gate National Park has some of the most surreal, peculiar, and visually striking landscapes anywhere in Africa. It is best explored on foot or bike.
